A Message from the Pastor
Basilica of St. Anne-de-Beaupre Dear Parishioners: I had enjoyable time running the Quebec City Marathon in Quebec, Canada, last Sunday. I finished the race in 4 hours, 20 minutes, and 11 seconds, which was 41 minutes slower than my time at the Boston Marathon in April. However, I took off two weeks from running shortly before the race to finish preparing for the mission I gave at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Niceville, Florida—not an ideal way to prepare for a race. Also, the mean temperature on the day of the race was warm for a marathon—73°F. Warm temperatures will definitely slow you down while running! I got a nice little sunburn as a race souvenir J. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the race—locals cheered runners on, and I loved watching sailboats glide on the St. Lawrence River as I ran down one side of the river and up the other. (The race began in Levis, Quebec, crossed a bridge, and then finished in Quebec City.) I spent the rest of my time visiting churches with my mother like St. Anne-de-Beaupre pictured above. It was a fantastic trip, but it’s also great to be back.
