Dear Parishioners & Visitors,

It is exciting and uplifting to see our younger student brother Dominicans
stay with us during the Summertime and sometimes for the
period of a year to minister in our parish or in a local hospita. For example,
Rev. Deacon friar Thomas More Barba, O.P., has certainly aquitted
himself well and is so grateful and delighted to have been received
so lovingly by the parish faithful. Brother Nicholas Reynolds, O.P., is
very happy to be offering four weeks of presentations using The Holy
Father’s apostolic exhortation, Amoris Laetitia, every Wednesday at 1:30
and 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall. Moreover, Brother Hugo Rojas, O.P.,
is here for the Summer ministering at M.D. Anderson Hospital for his
required seminary pastoral work. We will be hearing of his experiences
at the hospital which will be one of the ways he helps the rest of us learn
from his ministry. Plus, Fr. Mariano Veliz, O.P., now Parochial Vicar at
St. Anthony of Padua in New Orleans, joined us recently for the Solemn
Vows Mass and reception of Brother Carl Paustian, O.P. Our Dominican
Priory continues to be a thriving community of friars preachers who
pray, study, recreate, offer revolving-door hospitality, discuss the Holy
Scriptures in homily preparation, and preach by how we live, forgive,
and express our fraternal care for one another.

As in all vocations, whether in religious vows, Holy Matrimony,
Holy Orders, or the Single Life, we are all of us interacting with one
another on our way with Jesus Christ. We need each other and support
each other in UNITY.

In God’s loving kindness,

fr. Chris, O.P.
