Prayer and Driving Out Evil

Dear Parishioners & Visitors,

“The seventy-two disciples returned rejoicing, and said, ‘Lord, even the demons
are subject to us because of your name.'” This enthusiastic affirmation of the
mission on which Jesus sent these many followers of His, clearly shows
how we today are also participants in the mission to cast out demons and
place obstacles against Satan’s evil. Jesus Himself resisted evil temptations
and drove out demons. He did this often when at prayer. Prayer is crucial
in driving out evil; in doing so we allow ourselves, by God’s grace, to be
sent, to carry our particular cross, to suffer with others and, in all, to rejoice
in the powers over evil which are provided to us for the good.

Here at Holy Rosary we celebrate the Sacraments of the Church
and The Holy Eucharist is offered daily. As a member of our beloved
community of faith I might ask myself: ‘Have I considered the possibility
of coming to either our 12:05pm or 5:15pm weekday Masses?’ or ‘Have I
considered inviting a co-worker, family member, or an acquaintance to a
daily or Sunday Mass?’

See you at Adoration on Friday from 12:45pm to 5:15pm!

In God’s loving kindness,

—fr. Chris, O.P.
